Kallune Mendoza Malbec

Everybody loves a good blended wine, from the old world bordeaux’s and Chianti’s to the new world California blends.  Blends allow the winemakers of the world to make well balanced exceptional wines from the best grapes of their vineyards that express their own personal style.  Kallune Mendoza blend from Argentina is no exception.

Kallune is a blend of 48% Malbec, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.  This wine hails from Lujan De Cuyo Mendoza Argentina, and the vineyard is located 3,200 feet above sea level.  The Grapes are hand harvested and then undergo malolactic fermentation in large barriques.  The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels for fourteen months.  The terroir of the vineyard along with the winemaking techniques create a very old world style wine that is tight and focused, as well as delicious.

Kallune Mendoza blend is a full bodied and flavorful wine.  On the nose there is nice dark fruit with a touch of earth and spice.  On the palate there are hints of blackberry, black currant and a touch of leather, followed with a long finish of earth and spice with elegant tannins.  This well balanced elegant wine is very smooth and pairs well with grilled meats and hearty stews.

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.
