I am not typically a Riesling drinker but Kung Fu Girl Riesling is a fantastic off dry wine that pairs well with Sushi (one of my favorite foods) and other spicy delights. This wine consistently receives critical acclaim vintage after vintage, and 2014 is no exception.
Kung Fu Girl Riesling hails from the Columbia Valley in Washington state. The vineyards rows lie on steep cliffs high above the Columbia river, a cool area due to the river’s influence. The soil is rocky which imparts great minerality to the wine. The wine undergoes a long cold fermentation similar to a classic “Mosul-style” Riesling.
Kung Fu Girl has a wonderful minerality and floral notes on the nose followed by fresh white peach, lime and crushed stone on the palate. The finish is long and refreshing with just the right amount of acidity. I thoroughly enjoy this wine during the warmer months of the year of whenever Sushi, spicy asian cuisine or other seafood is on the menu.
This fantastic wine is sure to please all Riesling lovers and others. It is a great value as well, coming in under $15.
