Rose, Hooray! Part 1

There is something about the warm spring weather that makes me want to write about, and drink Rose wine.  I love all wines, prefer reds, especially during the cold winter months and at night with dinner, but a Rose is just perfect for some springtime day drinking.  Rose’s are refreshing and cool, with all the complexity and balance of red’s.

One of my favorite Rose’s is Bieler Pere et Fils.  This is a delightful wine from Provence, France specifically from Coteaux D’Aix.  This fantastic rose is a blend of 41% Grenache 38% Syrah 12% Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Cinsault and 4% Rolle.  This handcrafted wine is a classic Provencal rose with a delicate balance of red fruit and savory notes.  The nose and palate are introduced to hints of wild strawberry and raspberry with underlying floral notes and herbs de Provence.  Elegant and fresh rounded out with bright acidity. This wine pairs well with smooth creamy cheeses, fresh fruit and salads, perfect for a spring picnic.
